Sample of a Beam Routine with Limited Tumbling (fill in dance around “substance”):

  • Mount
  • Series: Cat leap->cat 1/2 A->B)
  • Tuck 3/4 (C)
  • Series: Split leap->split jump 1/4 (A->B)

General Tips:

  • If you don’t have saltos, limit the amount of tumbling you include to avoid deductions

  • Try to have movement going every direction (forward, sideward, backward) and at different heights
  • Try to cover as much of the Beam as possible
  • Keep your eyes off the mat
  • Have fun! (the judge can tell when you aren’t)

Sample of a Floor Routine (fill in dance around "substance"):

  • Tuck full (B)
  • First tumbling pass
  • Wolf 1/2 (B)
  • Leap series (to include a B skill)
  • Cat 1 1/2 (C)
  • Another B or C
  • Slower dance and/or floor work (to rest a bit)
  • C skill either just before or just after the slow dance or floor work section (double turn works well just before the tumbling pass)
  • Second tumbling pass
  • End with a C skill

General Tips:

  • If you don’t have saltos, limit the amount of tumbling you include to avoid deductions
  • No more than two skills in any one position (tuck, wolf, cat)
