Speeches & Announcements

After march-in but before competiton begins, a few announcements should be made: `
  • Announce and welcome the judges for the meet.
  • Announce the schools that will be competing along with their team captains and coaches.
  • Announce that there should be no flash photography for the safefy of the gymnasts.
  • If the meet is your last or only home meet of the season, honor your seniors. Typically this means saying something short and sweet about each senior or giving each a small gift. Your captains may want to honor the coaches also.

Event Sheets

  • Unless pressed for time, the top 10 on each event and All Around should be announced during awards.
  • If there is a tie on any event:
    • The individual with the higher All Around score will be read 2nd, e.g. if gymnast 1 and 2 both score an 8.0 on Vault but gymnast 1 has an AA score of 30.5 and gymnast 2 has a higher AA score of 31.75, then gymnast 1 will be announced first, followed by gymnast 2.
    • A place in the top 10 will be taken for each gymnast in the tie, e.g. if gymnast 1, 2 and 3 tie for 10 place, then the next gymnast to be announced will be 7th place, not 9th place.

  • Play upbeat music during march in.
  • Ask for parent volunteers to:
    • Read announcements
    • Enter scores
    • Help with set up and breakdown of equipment
  • If the meet is your last or only home meet of the season, have your seniors march in with flowers or balloons.
