Is it better to compete it if you've just learned it and it's still not pretty? Is *some* tumbling better than no tumbling even if it's not perfect? Post your opinion.

Depends on how bad it is but in general it seems that a routine with tumbling will always score higher than a routine without (assuming there are no falls).
